Santa Paula
Stream Team Making Progress

Friends of the Santa Clara River's Stream Team is well into its second year of volunteer water quality monitoring and has successfully completed a review of data covering 2006 results with its Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). Our TAC members are Tim Robinson and John Melack of the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management, Tommy Liddell of the Ventura County Watershed Protection District, Erick Burres of the State Clean Water Team, and Damon Wing, staff to Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks.

Although we have successfully carried out our once per-month sampling so far, there have been several days when the volunteer turnout was barely enough to perform the tasks at hand. We monitor on the second Saturday of each month after meeting in Fillmore at 9 a.m. to assign upper and lower river teams and distribute gear. If you would like to experience the river in a new and exciting way and help measure water quality, please contact Christina Michael, Stream Team Coordinator, at (805) 403-3933 or email her at cjmichael44@hotmail.com.
