FSCR Awarded $2500 Grant from Resources for Community Collaboration

Friends of the Santa Clara River has, for the past six years, participated in the Santa Clara River Enhancement and Management Plan as a member of the Project Steering Committee. To support this work, in the fall of 1998, we applied for a grant from the the Resources for Community Collaboration Fund of the Tides Foundation (RCC). In December, 1998, we were notified that our application had been approved, and were awarded the $2500 grant. We plan to use the funds primarily for educating the public concerning river issues, including publication and mailing of the Watershed.

RCC provides funding for locally-based organizations which are participating in viable community-based collaborations committed to resolving key natural resource issues in the rural West. The RCC evidently felt that the Santa Clara River Enhancement and Management Plan, which is controlled by a 26-member steering committee of stakeholders, is just such a collaborative process. This grant is particularly satisfying to FSCR, since only 18 grants were made as part of a very competitive grant cycle.
